After entering voluntary liquidation at the end of 2024, the assets of Chambers Pencils have been purchased, and a new company launched with former Chambers Pencils’ office manager, Gemma Chambers at the helm.
Family-run business Chambers Pencils started in 1913 making pencils in its Stapleford factory. Over the years the business has had its ups and downs, but finally in December last year, the company entered into voluntary liquidation.
However, former Chambers Pencils’ office manager, and fifth generation of Chambers family to be involved in the pencil trade, Gemma Chambers, has purchased the assets of the former company and started The UK Pencil Company.
“My decision to adopt a broader name is part of a vision to grow and adapt to new opportunities,” Gemma wrote on Linkedin. “In my 13 years working in the pencil manufacturing and promotional industry, I’ve noticed an increased focus on UK manufacturing, sustainability, and commitment to the environment. I believe this new name better incorporates these values and the professional image we aim to project as we expand and innovate.
“While the name may no longer directly highlight our personal history in pencil making, the heart and soul of our business will always be the Chambers family and our commitment to sustainability, quality, competitive prices, and most importantly, our dedication to our customers will always be the same. Thank you for your unwavering support. We are excited about the future and look forward to serving you.”
