The Sunday Times Fanfares UK High Streets

Hay-on-Wye stationery retailer, Bartrums & Co picked out as a must-see of the high street in The Sunday Times’ feature on eight of the best UK high streets for stylish Christmas shopping last Sunday (1 December).

Victoria Brzezinski and Hannah Connolly’s feature in The Sunday Times – eight of the best UK high streets for stylish Christmas shopping – stated that “the best shopping this Christmas is to be found on the Great British high street.”

Among the high streets featured were Nunhead Lane, London; North Street, Bristol; Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow and Castle Street, Hay-on-Wye. “For those with a penchant for the quainter things in life, Castle Street in the Welsh border town takes top place,” Victoria and Hannah wrote. “Book lovers will rejoice in the knowledge that this market town claims the highest bookshop-to-resident ratio in the country. Get stuck in at North Books, where you’ll find author events, signings and not one but two book clubs to join, while if you fancy putting pen to paper yourself, Bartrums & Co, on the corner with Lion Street, has two floors of stationery to peruse.”
