Over 8000 Fountain Pen Fans Take Part In Pelikan Hubs

Last Friday (27 September), 8702 people took part in 254 Pelikan Hubs in 47 countries around the world.

Every September, lovers of the written word gather for an inspiring evening to showcase their collections of writing instruments and inks. Attendees at Pelikan Hubs share stories and celebrate the beauty of these precious tools.

The first Pelikan Hub in 2014 brought together around 900 enthusiasts of fine writing instruments. Since then, the event has got bigger and bigger. This year, 8702 fans took part in the worldwide events with 254 hubs in 47 countries.

Organised by fans for fans this event offers a wonderful opportunity to connect over a shared passion and discover new inspiration. Each Hub event is dedicated to the Edelstein ink of the year, which this year is golden lapis. Pelikan generously donate a bottle of fountain pen ink and paper to all attendees.

There were several events in the UK, including one in Manchester, where Becki Cross – organiser of StationeryFest and PlannerFest – was the Hub Master. Becki said about the event: “We had 21 people at our Pelikan Hub. It was a lovely bunch of people and we spent over three hours talking about fountain pens, inks and stationery. The time flew by.

“Lots of experience and advice was shared and people generously shared ink samples and showed off their beautiful fountain pens. The hub was attended by avid collectors and those new to the fountain pen rabbit hole! It was a lovely friendly mix of people.”

Although the Pelikan Hubs only happen once a year, Becki is hoping that the Manchester group will meet up more often. She has started a Facebook group for fountain pen lovers in Manchester and the North West, which people are welcome to join if they are interested.
