Harrogate Retailer Shows Off Dino Christmas Window

Jespers Of Harrogate unveiled its Christmas window earlier this week created by local artist Christian Alexander Bailey drawn with Posca pens.

The roar-some window display took shape over the past weekend (2-3 November), with customers having fun guessing at what the final design would be. “Christmas is supposed to be about joy,” said Harrogate artist, Christian Alexander Bailey. “While [dinosaurs are] not stereotypically festive, it is entirely joyous!”

It was the first time Christian had drawn on a window, which is nearly 2m high and about 3m wide. “This was a chance to do something fun, just for the sake of it. This reminds me of being a boy and the unparalleled joy of dinosaurs. Books, toys, films, animations, the amazing work of Ray Harryhausen, all this coupled with the unbridled imagination of youth. I still love dinosaurs and this is a homage to them and the happiness associated with them.”

Lynn Cummings, manager of Jespers of Harrogate said: “It’s a way for us to encourage customers into store and collaborate with local artists. We encouraged people to come and watch this design come to life over the weekend. They were amazed and hadn’t seen anything like it before.”
